The set up

The Mom was driving me home after I just babysat her kids that evening and we got on the topic of what was on my list of things I look for in a guy. After a while she told me she wants to set me up the her nephew. I told my Mom that night but never got around to meeting him. Last Thursday I was pretty sure I saw him on campus but wasn't sure. When I looked on Facebook it said he went to the same University as me. So I texted the Mom that wanted to set us up earlier this year and she said he did go to the same University as me. She was eager to set us up and before I knew it I was going to his church to meet him and his family. We went to Tony Roma's for lunch, with his family, my family, the family I babysit for, and his grandparents. They were all very nice and his Dad even paid for everyone's meal. We went to Starbucks today just to get to know each other better. We actually didn't get any drinks and just talked instead.

3 jobs might be too many...

Today was my last day of the babysitting job. With only getting one or two days a week I decided to quit and only work at my other jobs. The girls were quite sad but with having to walk to their house it was a bit of an inconvenience for me. This will give me more time to study or work longer hours at the other jobs.

Getting a job would be hard they said...

A few days ago another job called me asking for an interview. My Mom told me to consider saying yes to the next one that calls because at the first job they told me after the first shift that I was only "training" and if they liked me, they would keep me. So I agreed to do another interview, this time at Smitty's as a hostess. After the interview was done they hired me and I filled out government paperwork, which I did not do yet at the first job. After the paperwork was completed I got a tour of the place.

Today I completed my second training shift and this Sunday I will be working alone, for the first time. My duties include; seating people, clearing tables, setting tables, answering the phone, cleaning the washrooms, and making payments. My favourite part to do is my the payments but I only like it when people pay with credit card not cash. When they pay with cash you have to type stuff into the machine and it gets a bit challenging.

At the local restaurant where I buss my duties include; getting ice, re-stocking, clearing tables, setting tables, cleaning the kitchen, refilling the little dipping sauces, putting away clean dishes, and bringing bar glasses to the bar.

I'm not sure what job I like better but I know at Smitty's its not so busy and stressful.

Along with the other two jobs I also have another job. It's only once or twice a week and I have to pick these two girls up from their bus stop. I am in charge of feeding them lunch and playing with them for the afternoon. I start tomorrow and I think it will be really fun.

I am super lucky to have Pier 1 Imports, Booster Juice, Smitty's. Local Restaurant, Santa Lucia Pizza, Za Bistro, Shoe Warehouse, Starbucks, Bulk Barn have called me and give me a chance to work. My parents told me getting my first job would be hard. But since I got one right away I just thought,
(I thought this photo was appropriate because in Legally Blonde no one thought that Elle could get into Harvard Law School but she did. When questioned about how she got in she responded, "What, like, its hard?" With me, no one thought I could get a job right away but I got four. So I always think, "What, like, its hard?"

But with my great attitude and positive spirit I was able to get four of the nine. I only took two because having four jobs is a little crazy!

Its not all singing and dancing

Kezia and I love High School Musical. Words cannot describe how much we love it. We know all the words and all the songs. The movie came out I was in grade six. My mom surprise us by taking us to the theatre to see it. I remember the excitement we had and couldn't wait for the movie go start. In the opening scene Troy is sweaty and playing basketball and his first line is "Let's go!" The movie starts and you begin to watch them play basketball. They start singing about this is the last time to get it right and how they are playing the last game of the season and they want to be winners. When you're in grade twelve there are a lot of last times. Last time having spirit week, musical, spares, lunches, and many more. As the movie goes on you are watching their senior year of high school. During the movie many characters are asked to prom and they present their idea of the perfect prom. You watch them dance on their beautiful prom dresses and sing all about it. They go through the the typically senior year things you do. The last scene of the movie is the main cast along with a few hundred extras graduating. You watch them dance their last dance, sing their last song, and they come forward and the song ends "High School Musical" and they turn around and the curtin closes in front of them and the movie in done. The screen goes back and the credits role. Graduating high school is the same, you graduate and you're done. Your credits could role and that's the end of your story. For me, I want my story to have a great ending and that's why I want to continue to university.

High school went by so quickly that it feels like just yesterday I was a niner, and now I'm a high school graduate. I just hope that the next four years of Universty goes by just as quickly so I can move on with my life and not have to do any more school!

A new chapter in my life begins...now

After completing one university class already it's obvious that my high school life is over.

High school is different for everyone. Some hate it, while others love it. As for me, I loved high school. In high school I met my two very best friends. Seeing them every day was always a highlight. Now with one living very far away and one not going to university in fall, I won't be seeing them everyday.  I remember in grade eleven, the grade twelves told me to savour every moment of grade twelve because it goes by incredibly fast. I didn't think that was true. As the year went on I noticed that my senior year was fading fast. Before I knew it, I was walking across the stage getting my diploma.

Near the middle of grade twelve I decided I wanted to be a Dental Hygienist. I didn't have enough time to take the math I needed along with the Chemistry I needed, so I have to take it in university. Because of that, it will take me much longer to complete everything in one year so I will take all my classes over 2 years. Dental Hygiene will take two years, so I'm hoping to be all done school in four years.

University can be quite pricey and my parents told me I need to get a job. I have never had a "real" job before therefore getting a job could be quite challenging because I don't have really anything to put on my resume. As a teenager I babysat all the time, I still do but it's not really enough to pay my way though university :) I also had been on set many times and even had the opportunity to be a stand in for six weeks. Being on set you are paid very well and it will pay for two years of my university. I still needed a "real" job so I won't have any student loans. Last  Saturday I applied to nine places. As of today, three of the nine called me back for an interview. I took the first one that called and it's a bussing job at a local restaurant. I have had one training day and it was so tiring. I have another training day tomorrow and I'm really excited.

I am suspecting these next few weeks to be very busy but it's all worth it in the end.
